1)Demonstrate safe and soft landing on the surface of the Moon. 2)Demonstrate rover operations on the Moon. 3)Conduct on-site experiments on the Lunar surface.

The mission is expected to cost around ₹1000 crores (US$130 million)

The lander will be called Vikram, and the rover will be called Pragyan.
