BCCI has secured players financially.
I am fan of game of Cricket from the late 1990s till date. This article will highlight some of the major points I have noticed as a fan of the game which has changed in Indian Cricket for the good. If a team has good success credit must also go to the structure it has been built on. It is very easy to neglect this in fast moving world. BCCI mind boggling revenue stats.
As a passionate fan of the game, I was obsessed about India winning cricket matches in late 1990s, but I was too naive to understand the game then. I just saw cricket passionately which most of us have because for the love of the game. I still remember those days in 1999 when I use to woke up to see Australian Test matches getting finished under 4 days with a tear in my eyes for the whole day.
Thinking why Indian team cannot win? Sad but not without hope that one day it will change I use to go to bed thinking. Hope is the only outlook which keeps us moving. Today when I write this article, I feel very proud first as a fan of Indian Cricket and then I begin to think what changes have happened in Indian Cricket.
First, I notice is the strong structure BCCI has created in last 20 years. Yes, we must appreciate the good things done for the game. The foundation laid by BCCI is very strong. Its structure is good. Some of the former cricketers have worked very hard for this. I would not like to name any one of them because it may be a injustice to other one.
Every kid in India has a dream that he will play for the country one day but only very few get to play the beloved game. The passion is immense in our country, and I feel that is one of the main reasons India will keep producing quality players. Talent is Gods gift but Technique is taught at the grass root level.
Here I feel the grassroot coaches who are very well looked after, some maybe exception sow the seeds for better future of sports. The grounds men who prepare the pitches for domestic as well as international matches must be thanked. When international teams have toured India, they all are on same page.
If I consider last 20 years, I will say 2007 has to be landmark year. First IPL was introduced. Now there are pros and cons for everything in life. So IPL has it too. What I mean here is a person needs financial independence to perform up to his potential. IPL gave all young players financial independence at a young age.
The earlier players played as if the life depended on it. Itโs very easy to express yourself when you have no burden on you and that is one change, I have noticed in the Indian team now. They are not afraid to express the talent. It is very good, and I give credit to BCCI for looking after these players. Not all are from great family backgrounds, but the fear is removed from them. A T Natrajan story is an example of such deeds by BCCI. He is talented that apart.
The A Tour program is also a success for me because young cricketers are exposed to foreign conditions, and they get to adapt to it quickly when they enter at senior level. The players are nurtured in the Cricketing nursery. I find it very good to see that player playing for India now are fearless as well as well-structured and groomed. Few are exception always.
BCCI getting former Indian players like Ravi Shastri & now Rahul Dravid is big boost for young players. Rahul Dravid for me is a real Bharat Ratna. Not only about his cricketing performance but number of youngsters he has helped to evolve under the BCCI structure is invaluable for our future growth.
